Echo’s van de Bergen

BRONKS · 2025–2027

Echo’s van de Bergen is a visual symphony in which live music and illustration merge on stage. In this monologue, Farnoosh Khodadadeh retells the story of her childhood in the war-torn border city of Kermanshah. She is joined on stage by Joachim Thys on saxophone and Shahab Azinmehr on the tār. Above Farnoosh hangs an enlarged circle, resembling the Iranian daf as well as a glowing white moon. The live drawings that appear on this luminous round surface are not just illustrations. They add another layer of meaning, comment on the story and, at times, intervene in what's happening on scene.

“…working from lines and fields of colour, he regularly creates figurative impressions of Khodadadeh’s childhood, in a style that comes across as both sophisticated and simple. Fannes adds atmosphere and colour to the dark setting, without taking the attention entirely away from the story or the music.”Tom Permentier, Pzazz (translated)
